[ ] Do a Discard and Donate before you determine which items to store
[ ] Go Vertical using freestanding shelving such as Trinity brand 4-tier or 5-tier on wheels

[ ] Disassemble large furniture if possible unless it’s useful for stacking or storing
[ ] Take pics as you go and also when finished putting everything it its place
[ ] Create an inventory list
[ ] Leave at least one path
[ ] Store items you need to access easily near the entrance
[ ] Use clear bins with latching lids to group like-kind medium sized items. Use extra

large bins such as black ones with gold lids sold at Home Depot for larger items.
[ ] Load shelving units with heavier items at bottom shelves.
[ ] Label all bins with self-stick clear plastic label holders, such as Cardinal HOLDits,
on front and side. Insert 5x3 index cards with contents clearly listed in thick black
marker.
[ ] Keep one rectangular folding table in the unit to help you look through bins in
future
[ ] Keep one sturdy folding step-stool in the unit for reaching top shelf
[ ] Consider committing to an “end date” for your storage unit; for example “I’ll keep
this for 18 months; then decide what I can donate”
[ ] Enjoy the many benefits of freeing up space in your home and having a safe,
clean place to store your items!
